Modify Vista Disk Partition

When using Vista, third-party applications are not required to modify a disk partition, as Vista has a built-in partition manager.

Here’s how to shrink a partition:
- Start -> Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Double Click Computer Management -> Storage ->Disk Management.
- Right click on the partition that you want to shrink and select the shrink option.
- Then, a pop-up box will appear and you’ll need to enter the amount of space you want to shrink the partition by (By default, the maximum is entered).
- Click Shrink and the application will start shrinking the disk according to the amount you just entered.
- After shrinking the partition, you can click the new partition and format it the way you want it.
Here’s how to extend a partition:
- Start Menu -> Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Administrative Tools -> Double Click Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management.
- Right click on the partition that you want to extend and select the extend option.
- Then click Next in the Extend Volume Wizard.
- Then the Extend Volume Wizard will list all the free space available on the disk drive and let you extend the partition.
- Select the amount of disk space that you want to extend it by.
- Click Next, Confirm, and Finish.
