StarCraft 2 has been announced and will be shown at Blizzard’s WWI (World Wide Invitational) on May 19th. The game is being developed in 3D and will include a new race based on Kerrigan, meaning the game will have to offer a total of 4 races. The three older races (Terran, Zerg and Protoss) will each receive about two new units and the older units will receive new abilities. Considering the huge success of the first StarCraft, the will be a lot of pressure on StarCraft 2 to surpass, or at least match the greatness of its predecessor. Blizzard wants to shut down the original StarCraft servers in order to assure StarCraft 2’s success. It’s rumored that a BETA version of StarCraft 2 will be available by the end of 2007. Only time will tell.
